Colter Loves to Play

Colter loves to fetch a ball. If you spend a little time with him, he will politely drop the ball at your feet hoping you will throw it for him to chase. When he is feeling really feisty, he will not drop it but taunt you with it, daring you to engage in a game of tug.

One of the funniest things he does is this - he tosses a piece of kibble in the air and then chases it. He'll do this two or three times before he "rewards" himself and eats it. So funny!

good news - Colter finds a foster home

Good news for the hero of our tail. Colter has been in a foster home for about a week now and is doing well. He's now living with Sara, in an apartment in northern VA. He's a sensitive dog and all the chances he's been through - from home to boarding and now to a new foster home is hard on our boy. But he's also such a trooper who tries to make friends where ever he goes. So of course, he's won his new foster's heart.

Colter does not like his crate but he is so good that there's little reason to crate him. He is completely housetrained and is not at all destructive.

Colter in need of a foster home

Due to circumstances beyond his control, sweet, well mannered Colter lost his home and moved to boarding this weekend. We are eager to find Colter a foster or adopter asap because it is not good for him to be in boarding too long and not good for the rescue group either as boarding is expensive.

Colter got some interest at the adoption event he attended - after all, he is totally adorable and a good boy. Unfortunately, the family interested in him had an unexpected medical emergency that put adopting a dog on hold for the forseeable future. Bad luck for Colter.

Please help Colter by spreading the word about this cutie pie. Also, please consider making a small tax deductable contribution to Homeward Trails in Colter's name to help cover his boarding costs. You can donate on-line using the widget on this blog. THANK YOU!!!!
